“No teacher, school employee or other lecturer shall cover the topics of sexual orientation or gender identity in any classroom discussions or teaching in kindergarten up to and including eight classes,” according to the legislation.
“No teacher, school employee or other program leader shall discuss his or her own sexual orientation or gender identity with students in kindergarten up to and including twelve steps,” the bill states.
A similar move, which sparked controversy in Florida, has won legislative approval and awaits the expected signing of Gov. Ron DeSantis, a potential Republican presidential candidate in 2024.
