Hugh Jackman’s wife Fun at Rumors He’s Gay

Hugh Jackman’s wife, Deborra-Lee Furness, has laughed at rumors for years that the actor is gay – and thankfully, he still finds the speculation amusing.

“Hugh was gay for everyone, I mean, hello guys – if he was gay, he could be gay!” Furness, 66, joked during an interview for the podcast “Not an Overnight Success.”

In today’s world, Furness suggested, there is no reason for members of the LGBTQ community to hide the truth about who they are. In addition, she joked, if Jackman, 53, was gay, he would most likely be in a partnership with a beautiful man.

“He didn’t have to hide in the closet anymore, and he’d go out with Brad Pitt, or whatever,” she said, adding, “It’s not that Brad’s gay, but you know what I’m saying!”

Furness’s comments come two years after she addressed rumors of her husband’s sexuality while speaking on the Australian TV show “Anh’s Brush with Fame” in September 2020.

“He’s been gay for so many years,” she laughed, jokingly, “and I was gay.”

Although she saw humor in the gossip, Furness also said rumors can also be embarrassing. “It’s just wrong. It’s like someone telling Elton John, ‘He’s straight.’ I’m sure he would be angry, “she said.

Meanwhile, Jackman – who is currently starring in the movie “The Music Man” on Broadway – celebrated his 26th wedding anniversary with Furness earlier this month. The star of the film franchise “X-Men” shared a selfie on Instagram, showing the couple cuddling on a cold beach.

“Today I am celebrating 26 years of marriage with my extraordinary wife. Every day is filled with so much laughter, joy and sadness !!!! Deb, you are illuminating my life. I love you with all my heart!” he hissed in his inscription.

The couple got engaged just four months after they met on the set of the Australian TV series “Corelli” in 1995. The following year, they married and shared two adopted children: son Oscar Maximilian and daughter Ava Eliot.

Just last year, the Australian-born actor opened TODAY’s Hodu Kotb about his love for his wife.

“Deb is the easiest, most optimistic person I have ever met. If you ever want to play a game, ‘Who is the happiest person in the room?’ Deb wins, ‘said Jackman.

He added that Furness wakes up in a cheerful mood every day. “She’s just pulling out everything she can,” he said.
