Harry Styles has addressed accusations that he is “queerbaiting,” and has spoken out about his role in My Police.

Harry plays a gay man, Tom, who begins an affair with a museum keeper. In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Harry spoke about his role in the movie. “Obviously it’s very inexplicable right now to think, ‘Oh, you can’t get married. It’s illegal,'” he told the outlet.
“I think everyone, including myself, has their own journey in figuring out sex and making it better. It’s not like, ‘This is a sex story about these guys who are sex.’It’s about love and wasting my time.”

He also broke down the scene for the sex scenes in My Police, saying, “A lot of the sex in the movie is two guys going at it, and it takes away the tenderness.”
“There will be, I imagine, some people watching who really lived in this time when it was illegal to marry,” he added. “[Director Michael Grandage] wanted to show that it’s tender and loving and sensitive.”
Harry also opened up about his own relationships, disputing “queerbaiting” accusations.
Queerbaiting is often defined as the act of marketing someone who is LGBTQ without actually identifying as a member of that community in order to gain financial support and a following from LGBTQ people [via i-D].
The accusation is often made against TV personalities and stories, which tease and suggest a quiet voice without making the person or the relationship to be shown clearly, so as not to hurt or anger the majority of the team. visit

Saying that a celebrity has to reveal their sexuality or that they are “queerbaiting” is demeaning and hurts the entire lgbtq+ community. Just because they are famous doesn’t mean they have to come out and tell you their sexuality!
Harry has been in a high-profile relationship with Olivia Wilde since the beginning of 2021, although he has not officially confirmed the relationship himself.
“Sometimes people say, ‘You’re only with women,’ and I don’t think I’ve ever gone out with anyone,” he said. “If someone takes a picture of you with someone, it doesn’t mean you’re deciding to have a relationship or anything.”
He added: “I have never talked about my life to get out of public service and find it very useful for me,” he added. “There’s always an explanation of a story, and I think I decided I wasn’t going to spend time trying to edit it or re-edit it in some way.”
Fans have expressed their own opinion on Harry’s comments, taking to Twitter to open a discussion about his “queerbaiting”.
“Harry Styles is not a joke. Harry Styles never said that he was not marked [sic]. What he said: his sexuality is his & It’s not it’s your business to force anything on him or expect him to speak publicly,” one person wrote,
Another added: “To say that a celebrity should reveal their sexuality or that they are “queerbaiting” is a behavior that is strange and harmful to the wider lgbtq + community. But because they’re celebrities that doesn’t mean they have to come out and tell you what their sex is!”
Ultimately, Harry doesn’t owe it to anyone to label his sexuality, and making assumptions about his sexuality – and then accusing him of queerbaiting based on those assumptions – is okay.
