GOP candidate Vernon Jones says gay rights, civil rights are “two different things”

Georgia Congress candidate Vernon Jones (R) argued Thursday that gay rights should not be compared to civil rights for handsome people because being gay is an option.

In an interview with former Trump assistant Steve Bannon on his “War Room” podcast, Jones argued that the civil rights movement for African Americans and the civil rights movement of the LGBT community are “two different things”.

“Civil rights for Blacks and civil rights for gay people are two different things,” Jones told Bannon. “I don’t know what you are unless you tell me what you are if you are gay. But when I walk into that room, you can tell that I am Black from the cradle to the grave. Let’s not confuse that. “

Jones, who is running for a seat in the U.S. House in Georgia’s 10th district, has been endorsed by former President Trump.

He told Bannon that members of the LGBT community could change their identity.

“It simply came to our notice then. You can go from just being gay to being transgender and all these other genders, ”Jones continued. “But when you are Black, I have no choice. I have no choice. So to compare the two… it’s the wrong way for me. ”

Jones initially sent an offer to the governor of Georgia but announced in February that he was dropping out of the race after meeting with Trump and endorsed by former president Senator David Perdue (R-Ga .) as governor.

LGBT rights, which are specific to the transgender community, are now an important issue ahead of the 2022 average.

Republican-led state legislatures nationwide have introduced or passed bills that would ban gender reassignment care for transgender youth.

States including Florida, Utah and Alabama have passed legislation that would prohibit transgender women and girls from participating on the sports team corresponding to their gender identity.

During Thursday’s interview, Jones accused Democrats of “breaking down the moral fiber and fabric of the African American community” with an awakened ideology.

“To see what’s happening now, it’s non – American,” Jones said. “It’s to take conservative African Americans to save the Republican party. Because they saved us from slavery. ”
